Sometimes, when people get started in network marketing, they think it just takes two to three people to build a strong business. When you look at any compensation plan, that’s how it appears.
This isn’t the case, though.
Sometimes, the person you think is going to be a star gets distracted, or changes their mind, or, even worse, leaves your company altogether for another one.
Sometimes, people take a break for the holidays and don’t return. Family happens. Life happens. Your business slows.
What do you do when you need to get your downline performing in order that you can all have successful businesses?
Here are three ways to get your downline to perform.
1. Perform, Yourself
It’s easy to get stuck thinking that it’s your job to motivate your team, to inspire them to build and sell. This isn’t your job.
Your job is to motivate yourself. Find your inspiration and start the day like you’re starting a brand new business.
When you look at the top reps in a company, then cross-reference that list with the top recruiters in a company, you’ll often find they’re the same people.
In order to get your downline perform, you have to perform, yourself. Consistently performing the same actions you’d like your team to is the best way to inspire them to take action.
Inspire your team by inspiring yourself. Your team will follow, or they won’t, but your team will continue to grow either way, as you find the right people who are ready to build right now.
2. Love Them Where They Are
People begin their business for any number of reasons. They’ll grow or fail to grow them for any number of reasons, as well. …And there’s nothing you can do about any of it.
Find the people who want to run, and run with them.
The people who say they’ll build later, or check in later, or that they can’t do anything now… It’s okay. Love them where they are and let them know you’ll be here when they’re ready. Find out how often they’d like you to check in with them and do so.
Cultivate the connection with each person and then your check-ins will come naturally.
Keep it fun, keep it natural, and your dormant team members will be excited to come back to you when they’re ready.
3. Have Fun
Through the whole process, remember why you started your business, why you want to continue your business, and bring that into your daily life.
Fun is contagious and will continue to attract others to you. If you’re having fun, your downline is more likely to have fun, too.
